1. What we collect

Information you provide

When you create an account or accept an invitation to use StockTV, we collect:

If you upgrade to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe (web), Google Play Billing (Android TV), or Apple StoreKit (Apple TV / iOS). We do not receive or store raw payment-card data. We may receive limited billing metadata (last four digits, card brand, country, plan, renewal date) from Stripe; for Google and Apple purchases, we receive only the platform-issued subscription identifier and status.

Portfolio data (Pro+ only)

Pro+ portfolio tracking has two paths, both opt-in:

See §4 below for how we classify and protect this data.

Automatically collected information

Storage on your device

StockTV uses the browser's localStorage (and equivalent native-app storage on connected-TV apps) to hold your sign-in token, cached watchlist, and preferences. We do not set advertising cookies or use cross-site tracking pixels. Strictly necessary cookies may be set by our infrastructure providers (e.g., Fastly load-balancing, CSRF protection) where applicable.

2. How we use it

We use the information we collect solely to:

3. Who we share it with (sub-processors)

We do not sell or "share" your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California's CCPA/CPRA. We do not rent or trade your personal information. We disclose information only to the sub-processors listed below (each acting on our behalf and forbidden to use your data for their own purposes), and as otherwise required by law.

We may also disclose information where required by law, subpoena, court order, or government authority, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or others'. If StockTV merges, is acquired, or sells substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy protections.

4. Sensitive personal information (Pro+ portfolio data)

California's CPRA (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.140(ae)) defines "sensitive personal information" to include certain categories of financial-account information. We treat broker-linked holdings received via SnapTrade — and any manually-entered holdings tied to your identity — as sensitive personal information.

We use this data only to display your portfolio to you. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or to infer your characteristics. You may exercise the CPRA right to limit use of sensitive personal information at any time by contacting us per §12 below; because we do not use this data beyond what is necessary to provide the service, exercising the right does not change how we handle it, but we honor and record the request.

5. Retention & deletion

We retain account information (email, name, plan, settings, portfolio entries) for as long as your account exists or as required by law. Server-access logs follow our infrastructure providers' default retention policies (typically 30–90 days). The in-app analytics event log is a rolling window of the most recent 10,000 events across all users.

You can export all of your data as JSON at any time from Settings → "Download my data" on the dashboard (right to know / data portability). You can delete your account at any time from Settings → "Delete my account" — we will cancel any active subscription, revoke any SnapTrade broker connections through SnapTrade's API, remove your account row, and cascade-delete your settings, custom sectors, subscription records, portfolio entries, and event log within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Security

We use TLS 1.2+ for all traffic, bcrypt for password hashing, JWT bearer tokens with bounded expiry, server-side enforcement of paywall tiers, and least-privilege IAM on cloud resources. We do not store raw payment-card data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security and disclaim liability for breaches outside our direct control.

7. Children's privacy + minimum age

StockTV is not directed to children under 13. To create an account, accept these terms, or purchase a subscription, you must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, if higher). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us personal information, contact support@stocktv.app and we will delete it promptly.

8. International users · GDPR · transfers

StockTV is operated from the United States. If you access it from outside the U.S. — including from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland — you do so at your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with your local laws.

For EEA / UK / Swiss users: the lawful basis for processing your account data is performance of a contract (providing StockTV to you). The lawful basis for processing infrastructure logs is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional internet service. The lawful basis for marketing or product-update emails is your consent (opt-in), which you can withdraw at any time.

Transfers. When personal data of EEA / UK / Swiss data subjects is transferred to our U.S.-based sub-processors listed in §3, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, where applicable) as the transfer mechanism, supplemented by technical and organizational measures appropriate to the data.

You have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to processing or lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us via §12 below.

9. California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act grant you:

To exercise any of these rights: use the in-app export / delete buttons, or email us at support@stocktv.app. We respond within 45 days as required by California law. California Civil Code §1798.83 ("Shine the Light") permits California residents to request information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for direct-marketing purposes; we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing.

10. U.S. state privacy rights

Residents of certain U.S. states — including Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), Texas (TDPSA), Oregon (OCPA), Montana, Iowa, Tennessee, Indiana, New Hampshire, Delaware, New Jersey, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Rhode Island, and others — have rights under applicable state law that may include access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out of certain processing.

We do not sell personal information and do not process personal information for targeted advertising. To exercise any state privacy rights, email support@stocktv.app. We respond within the timeframe required by your state's law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any change. Material changes will be communicated via email to active accounts and surfaced in-app. Continued use of StockTV after a material change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
